We booked our “*Brand New* 2Bed/2 Bath” apartment in Vancouver via AirBnB. I of course spent hours deliberating as I always do […]
Whenever we start planning a trip, I am convinced that I can get accommodation for way cheaper than I can. I spend hours going through AirBnB and Booking.com. I draw up my lists, which mainly consist of places that are not as perfect as the apartment we own in Manchester. I review with my husband, we narrow my choice down and then just before we are about to book, it dawns on me that I am about to book something which is not as good as our home and my search starts again.
Usually during my original search there will have been at least one lodging that caught my eye. One that I thought “that’s just a little too pricey” and will have made myself move on from. Only to later discover that I never really had moved on and this “*Brand New* 2Bed/2 Bath” was what I ended up going back to. It’s one of my little ‘rituals’.
Located in Downtown Vancouver at 1289 Hornby Street, the apartment was part of a relatively new complex.
It took us about 30 minutes to get to it from the airport and during our stay we found it central and a short drive from everything we had on our Itinerary.
The apartment came with a parking space, which was really handy. Albeit the space was on level – 8 so if you were going out in the car you had persevere with getting out of the car park, which took a little commitment.
When we originally booked this AirBnB in Vancouver, I thought that the photos were Computer Generated Images as it looked so immaculate. When we arrived, we discovered that it was really that good (actually even better!) and the interior completely matched up with the photographs on AirBnB.
The main living area was open plan with lounge, dining and kitchen areas. The decor was modern contemporary with a touch of modern mid-century. Other than some dark wood and the black coffee table, the colour palette was muted greys, pale accent colours and white walls – perfect!
The Master Bedroom didn’t disappoint either. It had great size bed with comfy mattress and super soft (grey!) sheets. It included a two generous size wardrobes and had an adjoining en-suite bathroom.
The en-suite bathroom included a generous sized walk-in shower equipped with essential toiletries. The vanity unit, sink and storage were more than ample. There is nothing worse than having nowhere to store your toiletries. There was also a decent size bath but unfortunately relaxation time had not been built into our itinerary.
The second bedroom was also a really good size with a double wardrobe and became my dressing room for the duration of our stay.
Another major bonus (like this place needs anymore!), it was located on the 43rd Floor, with a fabulous balcony and spectacular views of the city. The balcony got the sun until 10 in the morning and from about 3 in the afternoon. We spent pretty much every late afternoon having a cheeky snooze in the sun followed by a G&T.
