For our final day, after my morning jog we set off to visit and revisit some of our must do places.
Breka Bakery & Cafe – Davie Street
First stop for us was a little bakery that we had popped our heads in earlier in the week. This was on the corner of Hornby Street and Davie Street near the AirBnB we were staying in. The place was called Breka Bakery & Cafe.
They do a great selection of cakes, tortes, strudels, donuts, cookies plus loaves, breads and sandwiches.
The Blueberry Strudel was very tempting.
For our drinks we chose a flat white coffee and a berrylicious smoothie. Both were amazing.
It would have been rude not to sample one pastry so we chose this beauty. An almond and chocolate croissant. One word…delicious!
Street Art
We then drove around to see whether we could spot any more street art.
This didn’t go too successfully as a few of the areas where I wanted to view street art, seemed on the dodgy side. So this meant we retreated back to the car and headed back to Stanley Park.
Here are the few photos that I managed to take.
This first one is one of my favourites in Vancouver. It’s called Over & Out and is by iHeart
This particular piece of street art can be found at 875 E Hastings St. According to the Vancouver Mural Fest App the artist made the following statement about the piece. “This is a series of graffiti stencils through which I try to highlight the negative effects of social media the growing youth, alienating people instead of bringing them closer.”
After that, we saw this one we then drove to Main Street. This next one is called “The Natural Law” and is by the artist FAITH XLVII.
According to the Vancouver Mural Fest App “The mural echos the human connection to Nature and Animals as archetypal beings representing our inner struggles and divine aspirations”. It is on the building wall at 11 E 5th Ave
During our walk in this area, there were a couple more murals. that we came across.
This first one is called the Dance The Dance My Girl created by Irving Cano.
This is situated at 150 East 3rd Avenue. The mural aims to show the importance of music, dance and costumes of the indigenous people of the Oaxaca region in Mexico. The floral design on the dress and detailing on the headpiece are fantastic.
In addition to this, we also saw this one. It is called Lady Mermaids. I found out later it was painted by four women and there are actually three painting on three sides of the building that depict four mermaid creatures swimming in a turquoise grotto. We only managed to see this one which was really very good.
Lost Lagoon at Stanley Park
After taking in a little bit more street art, we decided to head back for a final visit to Stanley Park. We returned to the Lost Lagoon to do a full lap of the wonderful water area.
It is such a peaceful place to take a relaxing walk. A big bonus for me is that you also have the opportunity to spot some wildlife. Like the heron below.
The walk around the lagoon took about 45 minutes from the nearest car park and was in total almost 1.5 miles. This included taking time to take in the scenery.
Davie Village Bakery
Finally, we finished our last day with an ice cream from Davie Village Bakery.
True to form, I had the hazelnut gelato and my husband had the stracciatella cherry gelato.
In addition, to the flavours we chose they also had the these too:
And not only that, they also had some amazing cakes. If only, we hadn’t already had a croissant today. Then we would have definitely indulged in the supreme croissant – it looked yummy!
Now for a relaxing evening and an early night so we are fresh for our flight back to Toronto.
