South Granville – Day 4 in Vancouver

On route from Vancouver airport on our first day, we spotted the affluent area of South Granville. First up on Day 4 was a detour to Walmart in Richmond.

This was to pick up a charger for my FitBit because I’d left mine at home! On the way back to Vancouver we made a stop in South Granville.

Granville Street (the posh part!)

This is definitely the upmarket part of Granville Street. Expect Designer Boutiques, Luxury Homeware stores and delicious food. This area was made for Taste of the Wanderlust!

Once parked we headed straight for Meinhardt Fine Foods. This store was full of freshly prepared foods and specialised gourmet products. As we were not sure what our plan was for the evening, we resisted the temptation to load our basket. But it was a struggle!

Just a couple of shops up Granville Street from Meinhardt is a wonderful bakery called Small Victory

Their website states:

“Life is made out of moments minute to minute, hour to hour. Our morning ritual can make or break the rest of our day. Savouring fresh-baked bread and fantastic coffee is a definite victory over the rest of your day.”

Here was our “small victory”:

We chose the Croissant Donut with Pistachio Cream. The pasty was divine and donut oozed with the light pistachio filling . This matched perfectly with the refreshing strawberry lemonade. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his coffee too.

I also spotted people eating sandwiches, which looked pretty amazing too.

Once we had refueled, we wondered down Granville Street and ventured into William and Sonoma. We couldn’t resist a couple of purchases for household products that we couldn’t live with out. These included nonstick egg rings and an egg peeler. We really should not be allowed near a kitchenware shop!

Granville Island Market (revisited)

As we drove away from South Granville, we decided we would have a small buffet in the evening. So we made another stop at Granville Island Market to pick up some provisions. See this post for our first dabble at the market.

Here are the pictures of our buffet and where they were purchased from:

Granvile Island Market Produce

Where we got the stuff from:

Rotisserie Chicken – L’Epicerie Rotisserie & Gourmet Shop

Italian Meats, Cheeses and Olives – Zara’s Deli

Pasta and Potato Salad – Laurelle’s Fine Foods

Hummus – Duso’s Italian Foods

Tomatoes and Basil – Granville Island Produce

Bread – A Bread Affair

The whole buffet was as scrumptious as it looks. Next up Day 5…
